Released in 2008, the Nintendo DSi introduced a built-in camera feature to the DS family, with two VGA cameras (one on the outer shell and one facing the player). This upgrade allowed players to take photos, apply fun effects, and integrate images into games.

The DSi also featured a larger screen, improved sound, and access to the DSi Shop, where users could download games and apps. While it maintained compatibility with DS titles, it removed the Game Boy Advance slot. The DSi marked a step toward multimedia functionality, combining gaming and creativity in one portable device.
